Memories & Condolences

I was a former student of Mr.Cooley, I want to say that he touched my life
in the most positive of way's. I was 22 and made a mistake, I enrolled in
his Barbering program, and Mr. Cooley taught me how to be a great Barber,
but most importantly he taught me how one should conduct himself in life.
I think about Mr. Cooley quite a bit, and last week I lost my father, and I
don't know what compelled me to google his name tonight but I am so sad
to have found out of his passing. Please be assured that he helped many
young men get back on the right path. God Bless Mr. Cooley.

I share your sadness in Darrells passing. He was a true friend just as was Dewey. I always enjoyed the chances I had to visit with him and working with him. He touched the lives of many many prisioners in many positive ways!

He held the secret recipe for what it takes to nuture a loving family. A teaspoon of smiles, bear hugs and lots of encouragement, hope and respect. All life's obstacles were addressed without complaints. The family found him continually adding a good helping of humor when we all needed a lift with an infectious laugh and grin. First to grab the dish towel when needed and a great example of self-made success. Taking concessions to a new level...I am grateful for the time when Aunt Karen and Uncle Darrell gave me my first job selling cotton candy, pepsi at the Pretty Prairie Rodeo. I enjoyed babysitting for Tricia while they went dancing...they looked so cool all dressed up. The years tookwith us into differentcontrol paths and miles seperated us but the love never lessened. God Bless You All.

Karen and Family: I am so saddened to hear of Darrell's passing. Our most sincere sympathies from Rosie and I. Please take comfort in your fond memories and the knowledge that his friendship, life, wisdom, humor and teaching meant so much to so many. I have so many fond memories of Darrell mostly involving the barber shop at the prison and our weekly "meetings" there. I, like so many others, are proud to have called him a colleague but more importantly a friend.

Karen, Tricia, & Family.....I was so saddened to read about Darrell's passing on Hutch on-line. My heart and prayers go out to you all. I'll always remember working with Darrell at Manpower Training. He was always such a friendly, positive and respectful man. May you find comfort in all the wonderful and loving memories. God will give you comfort, courage & strength. Dorothy Justice Whitaker

Karen & Tricia I am so sorry for your loss. I look back at the many memories of you and Darrell working many long fun hours with my Mom & Dad, either with the Jaycess or with the concessions. But I know you also had lots of fun together when my parents joined you square dancing too. Darrell will always have a special place in my heart. My prayers & love go out to all of you and your family.

Love, Karen Sloyer Pennington

So sorry to hear of Darrell's passing.I have many fond memories of him from years ago. I worked for Darrell from 1965 until I was drafted into the Army in 1967. He and Larry Tatro and I cut a lot of hair and had a lot of fun (lagging coins for quarters). I remember him as a good barber, a good boss and a fine man.

My sincere sympathy to all.

Karen I mourn your loss. I do however celebrate my many years of friendship with Darrell. He touched many lives mine included. It was indeed my pleasure to have considered him a dear friend. Darrell was a big, big, man in a regular size body. I will miss him always.
