Donald E. Hunt, 88, of Hutchinson, died January 29, 2015, at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers. He was born September 28, 1926, in McCracken, Kansas, to Leslie L. and Lilabelle Reed Hunt. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he had also lived in Nederland, Colorado, and Lyons, Kansas. He graduated from Alexander High School in Alexander, Kansas, in 1944.
Don was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific during World War II. He joined Borton Inc. in 1958 and retired as vice president of sales after 30 years of service.
He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Betty. Other survivors include: son, Terry Hunt and wife Renee of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter, Sue Carlton and husband Glenn of Hutchinson; daughter, Debbie Hunt and husband Bob Badgett of Hutchinson; sister, Marilyn Donelan of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Don shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends freely. He taught practical life skills to all his children with patience. He loved to jitterbug, and his trademark saying was, “It’s always five o’clock somewhere.”
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Evans Chapel, Wesley Towers. Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers.
