Alice Jean Maple, 68, died October 14, 2012 at her home in Hutchinson.
She was born June 17, 1944 in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of John B. Steward and Mattie Bell McQuarters Hurts.
A 1962 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Shreveport, LA, Alice, worked as a domestic. A resident of Hutchinson since January 1, 1963, she was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church.
On July 22, 1962 she married Roger Allen Maple, Sr. at Shreveport, LA. He survives.
Other survivors include; daughters, Doris Maple and Sylvia Maple, both of Hutchinson, sons, Roger, Jr. (Vicki), Dodge City, and Jeffrey (Starla), Lee Summit, MO; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters; 10 grandchildren, DeAndre Pannell, Ashley Grissom, Syleesa Mendoza, Jacqualyn Davis, Chandra Maple, Lynsey Maple, Kendric Maple, Dominique Broome, Kaylyn Maple, and Kara Dingman; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by, her parents, great-granddaughter, Jaylee Pannell, and beloved grandmother, Annie Mae “Momma” McQuarters.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Williams presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Thursday and Friday and family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday all at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Second Missionary Baptist Church or New Hope Baptist Church, Wichita, Building Funds.
