Darrell L. Cooley, 69, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1943 in Wichita, KS, the son of Dewey and Bernice Kampling Cooley.

He was a graduate of Cunningham High School and graduated from Barber College, Wichita. He was the former Owner/Operator of the Larkland Barber Shop and retired from Hutchinson Correctional Facility after 37 years where he ran the Barber Instruction Program. He attended Grace Bible Church, was a member of the former Hutchinson JayCee’s and the Salt City Squares Square Dancers. He enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren’s activities and he was a proud supporter of the Haven Wildcats.

On July 24, 1965 he married Karen Branscom in Hutchinson, she survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Tricia Paramore and husband Lonnie, his grandchildren; Payton and Faith Paramore, two brothers; Steve of Knoxville, TN and Rod of Crested Butte, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Sat. at Grace Bible Church with Dr. Rick Goertzen and Pastor Ron Dykes presiding, burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be given to Grace Bible Church in care of the funeral home.
