Dennis E. “Denny” Burdette, 72, died April 4, 2014 at Via Christi, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born Jan. 8, 1942 in Lyons, the son of Paul H. and Elizabeth Powell Burdette.

He was a 1959 graduate of Lyons High School and Adela Hale Business College. He was a retired farmer and following his retirement worked as a finish carpenter for Key Construction and Mennonite Homes. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughters; Dana Vieyra (Gene), Hutchinson, Denise Skinner, Aspen, CO, and Devona Belt, Hutchinson, a sister, Kathy Fritzler (Dean), Olathe, KS, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 11:00am, Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. There will be a book to sign from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
