Margaret A. Niederhouse, 98, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 28, 2010 at Waldron Place. She was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Europe, the daughter of John and Katherine Brotzman Niederhouse.
A Hutchinson resident for over 50 years, she was a retired Teacher, having taught in Florence, Durham, and Hutchinson, where she taught for 44 years at McCandless. She was a Durham High School graduate, and received her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson Area Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.
Survivors include, 3 nieces; Phyllis Gardner, Lincoln, NE, Lucille McDowell and husband John, Louisville, KY and Kathy Vidricksen and husband Robert, Salina, KS. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers; John, Herbert and Ted Niederhouse and 4 sisters; Katherine Becker, Pauline Lickei, Elizabeth Becker and Gertie Schwemmer.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Graveside service will be at 1:00 PM at the Durham, KS Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.
